Espresso Communications to manage IEAA media relations

Sydney, January 21, 2008 – The Interactive Entertainment Association of Australia (IEAA), a national industry association proactively representing companies in the interactive entertainment industry, has appointed Espresso Communications to manage its media relations in Australia, effective immediately.

IEAA members develop and market computer and video game software, hardware and accessories in Australia. The IEAA is administered by a Board of Directors comprising of senior executives from entertainment companies including Activision, Atari, Electronic Arts, Microsoft, Mindscape, Nintendo, QV Software, Sega, Sony Computer Entertainment, Take Two Interactive, THQ, Ubisoft and Vivendi. The Board is supported by the CEO, Mr Ron Curry.

In the role of CEO, Curry will focus on tackling issues which include the harmonisation of the R18+ classification scheme and intellectual property protection and games piracy, which costs the industry $100 million in lost sales a year.

According to Mr Curry, Espresso Communications was chosen to represent the IEAA “because of their contemporary approach to media relations, and because they took the time to really understand the communications requirements of the IEAA.”

“We required an agency that could provide the blend of strategic counsel and tactical support that we require, and the team at Espresso have demonstrated that they fit the bill.”
